Canadian restaurant in London

The "Maple Leaf" restaurant in London, England, is a unique venue dedicated entirely to Canadian culture and presents itself as the only Canadian pub in the United Kingdom. Located in the bustling Covent Garden area, it offers a refreshing alternative to typical British pubs, attracting both tourists and locals with its charming, rustic flair. It is part of the Greene King group, a well-known British pub chain, but it stands out significantly through its specific theme and relaxed atmosphere. The "Maple Leaf" is not just a place to eat and drink; it is also a meeting point for sports fans and those looking to experience a taste of Canada in the British capital.

Pub with Canadian atmosphere

The interior of the "Maple Leaf" transports guests straight into the wilderness of Canada. The walls are adorned with Canadian flags, hockey jerseys, and rustic decorative elements such as a moose head and hockey sticks, creating a cozy, lodge-like ambiance. The space features wooden furniture, including high tables and comfortable seating areas suitable for both small groups and larger gatherings. Large screens dominate the room, displaying a variety of sports broadcasts—from North American classics like the NHL and NFL to British favorites like rugby and the Premier League. This blend of a sports bar and traditional pub makes it a lively spot, especially on game days, when the atmosphere is enlivened by fans.

North American dishes in London

The kitchen at the "Maple Leaf" focuses on North American dishes with a strong Canadian influence, emphasizing hearty, uncomplicated fare. A definite highlight is the "Poutine," a Canadian classic made of crispy fries topped with cheese curds and a rich gravy, available both plain and with various toppings. Equally popular are the "Buffalo Chicken Wings," served with a spicy sauce, perfect for pairing with a cold beer. For those looking for something more substantial, the "Maple Leaf Burger" offers a hearty option with juicy meat and fresh sides. For dessert, the "Maple Butter Tart" tempts with its sweet treat characterized by the sweetness of maple syrup, underscoring the Canadian touch.

Sports bar with Canadian influence

The beverage selection is another highlight, reflecting the Canadian theme. The pub offers an impressive range of Canadian beers like Molson Canadian, Moosehead, and Sleeman’s, bringing an authentic taste from overseas. For whisky lovers, options like Canadian Club and Crown Royal enrich the drink menu. In addition to alcoholic beverages, there are also non-alcoholic alternatives such as homemade lemonades, rounding out the offerings. The emphasis on Canadian brands makes the "Maple Leaf" a special experience for those looking to try something new.

They show the HOCKEY! 😁🤞🏻 Food was great, definitely go with the Karaage but maybe miss the jerk meat options, a little dry. Other than that, amazing place to chill and enjoy the ice hockey

Decent sports bar, always some kind of sport on the TV, food is good, Guinness wasn't the best, but to be expected, it's not an Irish bar!

Excellent food. Service is pretty good considering how busy it was (we went on a Saturday) Gets very loud in there to the point we had to shout to speak to anyone in our party, very lively.

Great Canadian sports bar tucked in in alleys of Covent Garden. Food - spot on, drinks - spot on (they even have their own Canadian house beer - Honey Brown - on draught which is brewed by Sleemen brewery) and of course immaculate service! Will definitely be back!

They cancelled our confirmed reservation the day before our date and gave no reason. I had to follow up with corporate on two different occasions just to learn that they had an issue with their booking system. Still doesn't explain why they let us know the day before rather than as soon as we booked. Now we have to find somewhere else to go with limited options given the time constraint. This would have been our second visit to this place, and we really enjoyed our first, but I doubt we will try to go again given the unreliable booking system and that they don't honour confirmed reservations. The pub doesn't answer their telephone so no option to book direct either. Edit in response: your initial response when I contacted you was that the table was not available. Then I posted the review and you contacted me that the table was available.

Terrible food, came out stone cold and burnt burgers. TBF the chefs must have some skill as they managed to remove and resemblance to flavour from it. Hand driers broke, no soap in the toilets. Full of rugby tools as well.

Good pub with quite reasonably priced food and drink (for London prices). Poutine is great, as are the burgers.

This is a novelty bar and not actually Canadian. Only 1 Canadian beer on tap. Only 1 Canadian food item (poutine). Their Caesar’s are garnished only with a lime. Worst of all, they don’t show Canadian sports. Went there yesterday hoping to watch the 4 nations CAN v FIN with other local Canadians. Lots of people showed up and were very disappointed to find out London’s ‘authentic’ Canadian bar would not be showing the Canadian international hockey game. Management will probably respond to this review with some weak excuse about licenses. But I know for a fact other bars in the area were showing it. If they were an actual Canadian establishment they would have made it happen. But they’re not… sadly it’s just a Greene king pub in disguise.

What should have been an enjoyable family outing to watch the Six Nations rugby turned into an unnecessarily unpleasant experience due to the unprofessional security staff. Having previously visited this establishment and enjoyed their excellent sports viewing facilities, I made a reservation for 6 people, including my young nephew, for Saturday afternoon. Despite having a confirmed booking, we were met with inexplicably hostile and intimidating behavior from the door staff. Their aggressive questioning and confrontational attitude were completely unwarranted, especially considering we were a family group arriving for a scheduled booking during daytime hours. The bouncers' demeanor was so unwelcoming that it felt as though our mere presence was an inconvenience to them, despite us being paying customers with a legitimate reservation. This kind of treatment is particularly inappropriate when families with children are involved. While the venue's sports screening facilities are admittedly good, the hostile reception completely overshadowed any potential positive aspects of the visit. It's disappointing to see how quickly a venue can damage its reputation through poor customer service at the entry point.

Bouncers tonight are weird. I asked a lady sitting at a table outside if one of the chairs was free so I could take it and sit on it with my cold pint. “Certainly, help yourself” she said. The seat had been airborne in my hands not 3 seconds when bouncer from the front door pounced, very animated, exclaiming “you haven’t got permission YOU HAVEN’T GOT PERMISSION”. He then tore the seat from my hands, smashed it back down next to the table, gave me some weird stare and then retreated back to the front door arms folder. Frankly, I was in shock. Made even worse by his side kick who came over to ask what the “beef was”. He had pastry from the sausage roll he was eating in his beard - how unprofessional. Not impressed by these 2 clowns, they really misjudged things tonight. Won’t be coming here again. You wouldn’t see this in a Canadian sports bar… It gets even better, I have just been removed from this bar because of this review. Do we now live in a country where we cannot even express our views ? The manager was spoken to, he seemed to be taking orders from the bouncer reviewed above. Update: No sign of the offenders mentioned below. Suspect their services have been no longer required. Absolutely disgraceful and unprofessional behaviour from the whole staff here. Had an Australian sports team with me, they were shocked. The professionalism of this place will be reported appropriately.

Been here a few times and always enjoy it, but this time they’ve had a mare with the delivery which isn’t their fault so there was no cheese curds in the poutine which defeats the point of poutine

My wife and I had lunch here last weekend. The first two items we asked for weren’t available, so the man behind the bar (manager?) kindly knocked money off our bill to make up for it. Thank you very much- it’s very good of you, and appreciated. We’ll be back :)
